The Orpheus Centre is a registered charity and college which relies on your support to make our life-changing work with young disabled people possible.

We aim to raise around £1million a year to fund the essential facilities, services and opportunities that enable the students to develop their skills and prepare for a brighter future.

Orpheus supports young disabled people on their journey to independent living. The students gain confidence and self-esteem through the arts as well as learning essential life skills such as menu planning, money management, using public transport and planning a journey.

Whilst local authorities partially fund us, we believe that the students should have the best environment, curriculum, and opportunities available, so as a charity we fundraise for vital funds to provide things like.

·        Independent travel training, allowing our students to make the right and safe choices when travelling.

·        Extracurricular activities for our students, in addition to their normal studies.

·        Apprenticeship and career support

·        Fuel and maintenance of our small fleet of buses.

·        Language and speech therapy

·        Wellbeing sessions like Tai chi and Pilates.

·        Additional staff training in Makaton, wellbeing, and accessibility.

·        Weekend day trips for our onsite living students.

·        Building improvements such as automatic doors, access equipment

·        Additional facilities like the Multi Use Gym Area.

“Orpheus is amazing! I look forward to coming to college each day to learn different skills so I am as independent as possible when I move on from the centre.”
